1967 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 - Amazing Original Condition
Vehicle Description

1967 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40

1967 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40

Original paint and amazing original condition for a 53 year old vehicle. I bought this from the original owner 1 year ago from a small town in Northern Idaho. I’m a Landcruiser enthusiast and have had several Landscruiser models over the years and this was going to be my FJ40 to keep forever. Unfortunately, circumstances have changed and it’s time to pass this on to a new owner to enjoy.

The original owner purchased it new from the dealer in that small town (see decal on rear) and it never left that area. He was a hobbyist prospector and used the Landcruiser to drive to many remote mines in the region. There are even a handful of empty shell casings by the driver seat I’m sure from varmints and coyotes that he happened to run into.

Since I purchased it I have left everything cosmetically with the exterior and interior untouched. Because the vehicle hadn’t been driven for a number of years I had a Toyota Certified Mechanic complete the following:

·Drain all fluids, including fuel tank, oil, and radiator.

·Rebuild OE carburetor

·Top end rebuilt, including removing head and adjusting valves

·Brakes – new brake cylinders and system checked

·New radiator

·New shocks

The engine starts and runs very well. Purrs like a little sewing machine. The clutch feels good and it drives just like an old FJ40. Turn signals, lights, brake lights all work. Miles show 35,265, but I drive it occasionally around the neighborhood and it could have slightly more upon auction closing. The 4WD works as it should. It does have an oil leak that I haven’t had time to chase. Even though there have been many maintenance items completed lately, it is a 53 year old vehicle and it is sold as-is.

The paint on the exterior and interior is original. The body and sheet metal is surprisingly very straight with minimal dents. There is the rust on the rear tub but the rear fenders and other typical rust prone areas are in great shape. There was a previous repair on the passenger front fender (see picture).

This truly is a time capsule that you just don’t see in this original condition anymore. After years of searching is was enjoyable to find and trailer back to Utah from its original home. Sure it has its share of use, but it is complete and would be an excellent candidate for any level of restoration. Please feel free to call me, Eric at 801-644-4006 to discuss any questions you may have. I have many more pictures that I can send upon request. I am not a dealer. I would not recommend driving it on the freeway due to the 3-speed transmission and for safety reasons. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I will do my best to accommodate the buyer after the auction ends. A $1,000 non-refundable deposit is required within 24 hours of the auction closing. Payment in full required after 7 calendar days. I have the clean Utah title in hand issued in my name.
